Eve

This was an exceptionally interesting project. My client, Maxine, was creating a themed guest bathroom in her East London home. The theme was ‘Adam & Eve’ and she was looking for a piece that would be the main focal point and tie in with the other finishes such as wallpaper, tile and flooring, that had already been selected.

After some hunting around, we decided to go for this curvaceous vintage french bombe chest of drawers, converting the top drawer to allow room for plumbing. The countertop - designed perfectly to sit within an alcove, was crafted from 3 billion-year-old Brazilian granite which has beautiful streaks of gold and amber running through the black.

To crown this stunning piece, we sourced a double-walled solid brass countertop basin with a distinctive pattern around the outside (it reminded me of snake skin and complimented the green wallpaper very well indeed. The final touch was the antique solid brass griffin head tap that I had acquired a month before ever speaking with Maxine. It needed to be refinished and also shortened by my brassware restorer, but it suited this project perfectly. It must have been fate!
